Latest Project

Studio Styling Salon contacted me for a redesign of the salon's existing website. They had purchased one of the quick, you build it, web template sites—like the ones you see advertised on television. Unhappy with the look and the performance of the website, they came looking for a better solution.

Studio Styling had been paying a fee, in addition to the website host's normal monthly charge, for a Search Engine Optimization (SEO) upgrade that didn't seem to be helping. Examination of the site's code revealed nothing was done to help with SEO at all. A quick turn through the W3C Markup Validation Service revealed not only outdated code, but there were also several coding errors in the template provided by the quick site company. It is widely believed, in the web design industry, coding errors negatively affect search engine rankings.

The new website

Once a visual design was approved, It was time to gather text content, search for suitable images and write some code. The majority of photos for the Studio Styling site were selected from hundreds of stock photos available for purchase online. My solution to the SEO issue was to bump up keyword density, to add key phrases in the written content, to name the images properly, to use proper headings throughout the site and to validate my code.
